Keith Economidis

MSOM, L.Ac., CAR, NCTMB
TCM Acupuncture, Japanese-style Acupuncture, Rolf Structural Integration, Massage Therapy

Keith is a graduate of Southwest Acupuncture College (SWAC), where he completed a 3000 hour Masters degree in Oriental Medicine. While the main focus in acupuncture was more ‘TCM’ or ‘Traditional Chinese Medicine’, Keith also took electives & clinics in Japanese styles as well. While the end result of both styles are similar, Japanese techniques typically utilize thinner gauge needles and less vigorous manipulation of the needles. This makes for a less invasive & less painful session while still achieving nice results. SWAC’s curriculum also included extensive courses in Chinese Herbology & a variety of Health & Biomedicine related course work in Western Pathology, Anatomy, Physiology, and more. The program included introductory courses in Shiatsu, Tui Na, Cupping, & Gua Sha.

Keith was certified as a Rolfer® in 1997 by the Rolf Institute of Boulder, CO during the 700 hour basic course. He later completed 300 more hours of continuing education and Advanced coursework. He was certified as an Advanced Rolfer© in November 2001. Keith has been a Massage Therapist in private practice since 1993. He graduated from the Cayce/ Reilly school of Massotherapy, located in Virginia Beach, VA in April ’04. This extensive 600hour program was based on the unique integration of physiotherapy and transpersonal studies. During the first semester he learned a specific protocol, and in the second semester he had courses in advanced techniques, Sports massage, Swedish, Reflexology, and Hydrotherapy. Simultaneously he attended 180 hours in Jin Shin Do Acupressure workshops. Keith went on to attend workshops in Reiki, Neuromuscular Therapy, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Applied Kinesiology, & Visceral Manipulation.

Prior to massage school, Keith attended & graduated from Radford University. His Major was Physical Education with a concentration in Sports Medicine. During this program, Keith completed a separate1500 hour mentorship in Athletic Training while working with a variety of sport teams on the High School & collegiate levels. This led to a position as the Head Athletic Trainer for two years at a private school in Virginia Beach, VA. Keith was an Emergency Medical Technician from 1988- 2000 and volunteered with a Rescue Squad during this time. He also volunteered as a Ski Patroller for 2 seasons at Wintergreen Mountain from 1986-1988. From his extensive background of many modalities, Keith offers a variety of techniques and personal insights. Sessions are intuitive & unique- often blending several styles. Your personal requests are always honored should you desire one specific modality. To view my curriculum vitae click here.
